Anything Dell is good at moment - my favourite retailer :) largely due to them still offering XP presinstalled instead of horrid Vista

mine came with XP on it but i had the vista upgrade as an option. though i like vistas look and feel i do not like the way it takes control of your life. it dells you when to defrag and scan disk it does not give me much of a choice (unlike XP) of what upgrades are around ect.

as for dell i have had 2 now think they are great. the XPS comes with it's own call center that deal with just the XPS systems, also it is open 24hrs a day and is based either here in the UK or ireland  :smiley

Thought I would say a quick hello from a new member.  :smiley

I haven’t been following the PC forums for at least a couple of years now due to other hobbies and busy lifestyle, but like most things, you do get back to it.

I was having a good rummage around the net, and then stumbled on this place. Nice to see a lot of names I recognise from a certain publications forum, as that place was responsible for so much that I learnt about PC’s.

I always used to enjoy the security side of pc’s and fixing them, and at that point was starting to gain confidence in reading HJT logs. That’s what I would like to get back into, and this place seems dam fine if I need to ask questions.

I have a small home network of 3 desktops, 3 laptops and a NAS, and with teenage girls in the house and the way they live on the Internet I’m never short of maintenance tasks.

As I get back into this as a hobby again, I’m looking into building a media PC for the living room, and thinking of putting a Linux based server together from all the spare parts I seem to have accumulated round the house, so I’m sure I will be hassling you all soon.

Regards
Andy
