Just thought I'd get some feedback on the new forum, to distinguish members views and opinions.

Any feedback would be most welcome

off topic : i remember that pic in your avatar, i've got it on this PC somewhere i'm sure ;)

oh yea the forum.

from what i've seen so far and my own testing of smf i think it's really good (the modify problem is the only thing at the mo i think needs attention). No doubt we'll uncover things as we go and there may be requests for the odd plugin or tweak to make things easier but thus far, great job   xmas_biggrin

Sorry if this deflates any egos but ... It's nice enough but I don't really mind one way or the other. As long as we can communicate easily I find I can learn just about any way of using the software. This forum is much nicer than some I've been a member of and not as nice as some others.

About the only thing I refuse to use is an email newsgroup. I get too many spam emails as it is. :(

Having said that, watch how long it takes me to make my first post after I find the Modify function is down again ...  xmas_redface

I know you think you understood what you think I said but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Have got it sorted and apologise for the inconvenience. You should now have access to the Modify button on all forums. The problem was with the configuration on a per-forum basis for Global and Local settings. The General Discussion forum setting hadn't been retained during the upgrade. I think I've got it correct in all forums, but if you find its missing in another forum, please let me know & I'll fix it.

I thought I had better reply to my Poll vote, I voted " Could be improved", not because the forum or any part of it needs real improvement, but we all have our own ideas don't we?
This forum is one of the best I have been on over the years for many reasons.

1/  The text is clear and easy to read because of the sensible use of background colour.

2/  The attitude of the staff (admin/mods) is very good, helpful without being in the least power mad, which is what you get on some forum!

3/  Not a swear word in sight.....Why can't people use English without profanities, all that does is spoil any sense of family that a good forum has!

4/  No sign of Rules/Rules/Rules/Rules, just common sense. (I know there are rules, but they are not rammed down your throat as in some forum)!

Now here is my reason for polling the way I did: On the Home page, I would like to see any post with a "Today" reference in Red, as this would enable regular visitors to see immediately the new posts!
Just a small thing, and only a suggestion! :beer

I don't know if that is possible Willabong as we're restricted on the theme. If others feel it would be something that would help, I can certainly look into it.

Today is in bold (or is that something you've just done, Caroline?) - and there is the "new posts since last visit" - which helps if you come either more than once a day, or less.
