Windows 10? What happened to 9?
« on: June 05, 2015, 04:15:58 PM »
My Norton anti-virus software is advising me that it will remain compatible with Windows 10.

Well, this is the first I've heard of Windows 10.  I've only been enjoying the 'new' Windows 8.1 for about 8 months and suddenly here's Windows 10.

What I'd like to know is what happened to Windows 9?!

Two possible reasons there is no Windows 9:

1.  Windows 8.1 was a complicated update to Windows 8, so was considered to be a new OS (Windows 9). They have done this before with Windows 98 and Windows 98 second edition.

2.  Windows 10 is the start of a new era for Microsoft, as this OS will be FREE for the first year of release to anyone who is using Windows 7 or 8 or 8.1. So a new era demands a new start, and Windows 10 sounds better than Windows 9 as a starter!

Windows 10 is due to be released around end of July this year!
