IE Favourites - icons not individual anymore
« on: October 06, 2014, 05:38:49 PM »
Having changed my PC to a Windows 8 machine with IE11 preinstalled, I loaded up all my saved data, including Favourites from my old PC (Vista and IE10)

Everything works just fine, but I've noticed that, with very few exceptions, the site icons that appear in Favourites still have the IE symbol rather than their own website specific symbol/logo

Why is this?

Have you actually visited these sites since transferring them to the Windows 8 machine?
Favourite icons are downloaded from the sites they belong to, so transferring the URL's will not necessarily add the Favourites icons, visiting the sites and re-saving  them will probably add the icons again!

Thanks Willabong, I thought that might be the answer, so I opened up several sites from my saved/transferred URLs, but only a few of the Favourites icons changed to reflect the identity of the website, the majority remain as an IE symbol

Any ideas why this should be so?

Often you have to scrap the old URL and add it again from the visited site!
