Router connection to internet
« on: February 26, 2013, 11:07:24 AM »
Have a laptop and Virgin superhub in the same room and within 4 ft.of each other and run wireless. After my laptop has booted, which takes about 30 seconds, how long should it be before I have connection to the internet.

When not in use.

If your Router is continually ON....Instantaneously!
If you switch your Router OFF......It can take a minute or so, to establish a connection!

That is how it used to be when I had the old seperate modem and router from netgear but with this so called Virgin superhub, which is a combined modem and router,it takes another 20/30 seconds after bootup is completed even though the hub is left on all the time.Been complaing to Virgin for months and their reply to date is to send me a Dir-615 router and expect me to use the superhub as a router, which I flatly refuse to do.When I complained to one of their reps in their Glasgow office that the hub was not fit for purpose he had the audacity to say it was my computer at fault and when I further suggested that I would wait until the improved version of the hub was available he retorted that I would have to pay again.Have sent a letter to Virgins complaints dept. in Swansea and hope for the best.

Well, you are doing the right things, so wait on Virgin for an answer?
Please let us know what they say!

I promised a reply to Willabong when I had sorted something out with Virgin and after I managed to obtain the e-mail address of Virgins ceo I have been promised one of the improved SH's later this year when they have finished development work.

Well, a good result! At least you will eventually be able to sort out your problem! ;)
