Thought I had got rid of those dreaded error messages,0x80048849 and 0x848820,but was woefully wrong as they keep coming back time after time, how in hells name do you cure this problem.

Thanks for your reply to my cry for assistance but at the moment the mail is working fine so afraid to disturb it at the moment. This sort of thing has happened several times in the past, will twiddle a few things, and the awkward sod behaves again until the next time.Have noticed that among one of the items you gave me to look at there is a suggestion to manually configure the account with pop 3 and not use the automatic registration.Do you think that could lead to a permanent solution to this problem?.

Whenever my Internet/e-mail connection plays up, my isp always advises to manually configure my pop 3 account, so it is quite possibly your problem.....But the only way you are going to find out if it will help is to try it next time your e-mail throws a wobbly.
Another suggestion was to uninstall, and then load an older version of live mail.

That last suggestion of installing an older version of live mail reminds me that I have seen that as a proffered solution elsewhere and they said it worked, but unfortunately I don't have a clue how to do that.
