Office Suites for Mac
« on: October 17, 2010, 12:13:30 PM »
How do people find using MS Office for Mac 2008/2011 editions and IWorks in their home and work lives ?

How many people use Open Office or Neo Office, and find these free programs to be just as good?

Other suites available for Mac include :

Think Free Office         http://product.thinkfree.com/

Libre Office                 http://www.documentfoundation.org/download/

Any compatibility issues if working with a PC?

Comments would be much appreciated !!!

I've got Office 2008 for the Mac (via work) - seems to be more or less OK when I take stuff between home & work. Some of the options are in different places (e.g. the page settings for page/margin size etc) - but just have to remember which machine I'm on.

(It's easier to remember that, to be honest, than to remember that though I've got a UK keyboard [it's got a £ etc] - that @ & " are the US way round & # is very hidden! [Recalling that Americans call it a pound helps]) But, perhaps that's because I've more or less taught myself to touch type, so have to retrain my fingers where to go.

I've also got the latest version of open office, though don't use that as often. But, again, don't seem to have any compatibility issues. (Though we have found some between Office Live & Mac versions)
